Building the digital platform behind modern fashion workflows 

THE BRAND

Alvalan is building the connective layer between fashion design and digital deployment. Created by a team with deep experience across both fashion and technology, the platform was born from a simple observation: every stage of the fashion creation process exists in isolation. Traditionally, sketches, patterns, 3D assets, and production workflows require constant rebuilding as projects move between tools and specialists. This fragmentation slows development, increases costs, and creates unnecessary complexity.

Approach

Our objective was to transform Alvalan’s vision into a tangible product experience while creating a foundation that could scale alongside the business. Beyond designing interfaces, we needed to establish a comprehensive design system that would enable Alvalan’s internal team to continue building and expanding the platform independently.

Working from Alvalan’s existing user flows and product strategy, we focused on creating a user experience that made complex fashion technology feel intuitive and accessible. Every interaction was designed to reduce cognitive load while clearly communicating the platform’s value: connecting fragmented stages of the design process into one seamless workflow.

Alongside the UI design, we developed a robust design system from the outset. This ensured consistency across the platform and provided the internal team with the tools, components, and guidelines required to maintain brand coherence as the product evolves.

ACTIONS

A scalable design system was the cornerstone of the project. We created a comprehensive framework covering reusable components, design tokens, typography hierarchies, grid systems, colour palettes, interaction patterns, and accessibility considerations. Every element was documented with future development and handover in mind, giving Alvalan’s team the confidence to extend the platform while maintaining a consistent visual language.

We designed the platform’s key user journeys and interfaces based on Alvalan’s pre-defined product architecture.

This included:

  • Landing pages, including the Home page and My Design browse experience, creating clear entry points into the platform.
  • The Sketch-to-Pattern workflow, covering sketch uploads, information capture, and pattern matching results, supporting Alvalan’s core process of transforming creative concepts into production-ready assets.
  • The Configurator, Alvalan’s primary product tool, allowing users to customise garments through material selection, pattern application, colour variations, garment details, and UV mapping controls.


Throughout the project, we collaborated closely with Alvalan’s internal project team to identify opportunities for refinement across key workflows. Particular focus was placed on simplifying the sketch upload experience and improving the configurator layout, making complex processes more intuitive and easier to navigate.

To support user preferences and create a more flexible product experience, we designed both light and dark themes. These themes were fully integrated into the design system, ensuring visual consistency and scalability across all current and future platform experiences.

RESULTS

The outcome is a scalable product foundation that successfully translates Alvalan’s ambitious vision into a clear, intuitive digital experience. The platform now provides users with a cohesive journey from sketch creation through to garment configuration, helping demonstrate the value of a connected fashion workflow.

The comprehensive design system equips Alvalan’s internal team with everything needed to continue building the platform independently, reducing reliance on external design resources while maintaining consistency across future features and products.

By combining thoughtful UX, flexible interface design, and a robust system architecture, Alvalan now has a product experience that supports both its current offering and long-term growth. The platform is positioned to expand its capabilities, onboard new users efficiently, and continue advancing its mission of removing fragmentation from the fashion creation process.
